“We built a bathroom, a ticket office and added lighting that will be used for night games. To the satisfaction of the city council and the response we were able to give to the young people of this community, we are very satisfied”, he highlighted

The mayor highlighted that in 2020, in a meeting with young people from this locality, they requested the requalification of the space that already existed, but there was a need for intervention in order to improve the space, “and that was what happened”.

“We are seeing that a futsal nucleus is being born, which will bring tournaments of this modality in all locations, and today all the conditions have been created so that the area can host tournament games of any type of sport”, he said.

In this sense, he highlighted that construction work is also underway on another multi-purpose facility, in the town of Palhal, and assured that next month the requalification works will begin on the floor of the multi-purpose facility in Cova Rodela, which currently has several problems.

“To carry out the intervention in the town of Cova Rodela, we will use the resources that are already in the municipality's budget, however, for the work in Palhal, we have two thirds of the funding from the Government of Cape Verde and a third from the municipal council, around 15 thousand contos”, explained the mayor.

For his part, resident of the cachaço town, Álvaro Coelho, congratulated the municipality's work, highlighting that it will be of “great value” for young people and beyond.

“The sports board will also be used for many events, considering that it is a good space. I also appeal to the local authority or the Government to intervene immediately on the road that gives access to this community, as the road is in very poor condition”, he appealed.

Resident José Pires, on the other hand, who also shares the same opinion, highlighted that with this sports sign, young people will be able to spend their free time practicing sport, which is “very good for physical and mental health”.

“The Government or the city council should also create more jobs for young people, help family members in the construction of bathrooms and also in other types of sectors”, he stated.

José Pires also called for intervention by the competent authorities on the access road to Cachaço.
