Speaking to Inforpress at the end of the Eucharistic celebration in honor of Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, patron saint of the town of Furna, Friar José considered that this feast is “important” for this community and that the first message it leaves should be to put on the head and heart that life is a sea.

According to the priest, Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes sails if there is sea, reinforcing that the sea is the very life of the Christian who asks for the presence of Mary to calm the sea and intercede with God for each of the Christians.

“To celebrate this feast is to say that in life not everything is calm, hence the presence of someone who is serene is needed, who is Christ, but who shows Christ is Mary who says: do whatever He tells you”, he underlined. “Mary points us to Christ and Christ fills our lives with hope”, he highlighted.

Hence, he argues that celebrating this feast is the strong desire for the presence of someone who gives security, because “in the sea of life” one always needs someone who transmits security.

For this religious, on this day, in addition to recognizing Mary as a mother, whoever celebrates this feast recognizes her as an intercessor, “the one who cannot, asks those who can to do it for us”.

“It's a party of joy, hope, travel, and when things happen in life that we can't resolve, we look to Our Lady of Navegantes to help us navigate the sea of life and take it to the safe harbor that is Christ” , considered.

He reminded the community that to keep it alive, it must look at what is in the middle, and quoting Saint Teresa who says “only love is enough”, the priest emphasizes that love is seen concretely with service and service, he reinforced, it is putting one's own life at the service and doing good.

“It is a valid message for all Christians today, seeing the example of Our Lady, we cannot be afraid to open the door to Christ, serving where it is necessary, where our presence is fundamental, so as not to be afraid and with the intercession of Mary so that we know how to take steps forward serving others in need”, concluded this religious.
