The African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV-opposition) considered today that Brava's central challenge is transport connecting to the island and argued that work needs to be done to make it more “frequent and safe”.

This observation was made by the president of PAICV, Rui Semedo, on the sidelines of the opening of the political year in Brava, highlighting that the island faces challenges in development, growth, health, employment, income for people, among others.

Rui Semedo also stated that Brava still has “particular challenges”, taking into account that it is one of the two islands that does not have an airport and needs a connection with greater regularity and efficiency, so that it can create confidence among investors in investing. on your island.

“To also promote tourism, which is one of the very important sectors at national level, but also for the characteristics of Brava, as there were times when the island enjoyed a more frequent maritime connection, with six weekly connections, but now there are only three, which has decreased by 50 percent,” he added.

The politician also highlighted that the health issue is also a particular challenge for the municipality, taking into account that Brava has the need to transport patients to neighboring islands, and, therefore, considers that in this aspect the health system has to be adequate to the needs and challenges that the island has.

According to the president of PAICV, the party wants to work to present a new vision of development for the island and contribute, even as opposition, so that the municipality can have answers to its challenges that it faces today.

The politician stressed that in local elections, the party always faces the challenge of winning the Brava City Council and considered that at this moment, almost a year before the elections, the party already has proposals and challenges.

“A suitable, capable group will soon be formed, with vision, interest and motivation to work on the development of the island. At an appropriate time, PAICV will present a program to the population of Brava to be submitted for vote and we hope to count on the support of the population to give the island a new horizon”, he concluded.
