Residents of the community of Fajã d´Água today demanded better conditions for the locality, as it is a tourist area, but which has not received investments or improvement works.

These concerns were presented at a meeting held between the local residents and the mayor of Brava, where they discussed the lack of rehabilitation of the wall on Avenida Marginal, the square in honor of the victims of the Matilde shipwreck, the need for interventions in the side accesses, construction of a boat hauler, among others.

Faced with these concerns, Francisco Tavares recognized that these needs are listed, but the mayor wanted to show the community that the Raizes+ project is in progress on the part of the city council, and that the town of Fajã d´Água will soon benefit from the Rural Villages Project tourist.

At that moment, he showed that the Rural Tourist Villages Project was in the process of constituting the team and surveying the diagnosis of projects to be carried out, hoping that the work team would pass the validation committee for that project and that in the coming years they could begin to receive financing to transform the face of the locality and thus promote it as a tourist destination of excellence that “will bring gains to all”.

In an interview given to Inforpress at the time of the project's presentation, Francisco Tavares explained that the projects foresee intervention in terms of urbanization, improvement of accessibility and interventions in some houses for hosting tourists.

The implementation of rural tourist villages aims to create an ecosystem that involves the entire tourism value chain, sanitation, organization of paths, landscape enhancement and agriculture.

Its creation falls within the scope of the Operational Tourism Program (POT) in Cape Verde, which proposes the tourist and environmental enhancement of localities in charge of the Tourism Fund.

It should be remembered that at this moment, the town of Fajã d´ was isolated at the end of the afternoon of the 21st of January, after a landslide that, in addition to rock and earth, took with it a section of road.
