The community of Lomba Tantum today asked for a greater presence and rigor on the part of the authorities in the inspection of bars in the locality, which do not comply with closing times and the entry or stay of minors.

This appeal was made in statements to Inforpress by the president of the Cooperative of Shipowners, Fishermen and Fishmongers (CoopUnipesca) of Lomba Tantum, Anildo Baptista, who stressed that the community has already had more than a year to face some situations that it considers “inadmissible”, in terms of refers to non-compliance with the closing hours of bars, but also to the entry and stay of minors in the premises.

According to the same source, inspection by the city council and the National Police is not responding to some complaints that the community has made over that period, asking for more presence and rigor on the part of these entities because this is a fishing community and mainly on weekdays, when they are disturbed by the sound until 03:00 in the morning, the fishermen go out to work in a bad mood.

In addition, he said that the community has elderly people, which has greatly affected the health status of these people, as the inhabited part is small and the bars are in the middle of the houses.

Despite the noise and non-compliance with opening hours, the same source warns about the “proliferation” of social ills, especially alcohol and drugs among young people and teenagers, denouncing that in some of these bars, teenagers are often found and children sometimes accompanied by their parents in an inappropriate environment.

He showed that it is a community that in terms of economic development there is no reason to complain, but that “it has been educated in a negative way, which leads to wrong behavior in the community, encouraging the use of tobacco, drugs, alcohol, vulgar behavior, vandalism” , among other signs that indicate that if the competent authorities do not act, the situation tends to get worse.

“If the authorities are not up to responding to complaints of this type, we also think that they are not up to taking other decisions”, said this official, asking for a “shortest possible correspondence and immediate and brief decision-making”, adding that the community threatens to boycott any activity that may be carried out by the authorities in the area.

“We do not want this to happen, but it is always necessary to be in tune, in this case the authorities, the owners of the establishments and the citizens, because each one needs to know the rights, but also the duties”, he concluded.
