Brava: Court convicts three individuals of drug trafficking and GBV
The Court of the Comarca of Brava today condemned three people to effective sentences for drug trafficking and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The Court of the Comarca of Brava today condemned three people to effective sentences for drug trafficking and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
One of the individuals, female, was sentenced to six years in prison for drug trafficking, another male for the same reasons to five years and three months and a third, male, to five years and six months for practice from GBV.
According to the sentence read this afternoon, the female individual was arrested in mid-February with about two kilos of cannabis (padjinha) on the pier of Furna, but previously, in 2018, she had already been arrested on the pier of Beach for drug trafficking.
She was sentenced to six years in prison, accused of high-risk drug trafficking.
Likewise, a male individual in his 20s was also sentenced to five years and three months in prison for the crime of high-risk drug trafficking.
That same afternoon, a 36-year-old man was sentenced to five years and six months in prison for committing the crime of GBV and in May 2019 he had already been sentenced to four years of suspended sentence.
Both were awaiting sentence in preventive detention on the island of Fogo.
