Brava: Court sentences perpetrator of murder of 33-year-old girl to 25 years in prison
The Brava district court sentenced a 26-year-old man accused of stabbing young Brice Mike to 25 years in prison, who died on June 14th at Hospital do Fogo.
The sentence was read this Tuesday by the judge of the District Court of Brava, in the presence of family and onlookers and, in addition to serving a 25-year sentence in the São Martinho prison, on the island of Santiago, Walter Mendes, who was sentenced for the crime of aggravated homicide, driven by jealousy, he will also have to pay the victim's family compensation in the amount of one thousand and five hundred contos and the costs of the process.
It should be noted that, according to witnesses, everything happened on the night of June 5th, around 10:00 pm when the attacker found the victim in an establishment, in the locality of Nossa Senhora do Monte and called him for a conversation in particular.
According to the same source, Walter allegedly stabbed 33-year-old Brice Mike Ndjay and pushed him off a wall about 5 meters high, leaving him unconscious and in serious condition. The victim was urgently transferred to the Fogo e Brava Regional Hospital, but, however, he did not survive his injuries and on June 14th he died in Fogo.
As reported by the autopsy, death was caused by multiple traumas, namely two punctures in the rib and head trauma.
Speaking to Inforpress, the victim's father, João da Graça Furtado reacted, highlighting that even if the defendant were sentenced to 50 or 100 years in prison, nothing would justify the loss caused to his family.
“I've already forgiven him, it's sad, my son was young and he is too, but he has to pay for his crimes, because I don't wish that on anyone, but that's life”, he concluded.
