The deputy from the African Independence Party of Cape Verde (PAICV, opposition), elected by the Brava constituency, today congratulated the Government for the steps taken in the health area and asks for more attention in the economic sector.

Clóvis Silva made this analysis in statements to Inforpress, noting that regarding the issue of the vessel on the island, this need for a safer means of transferring patients has been claimed for some time and the Coast Guard detachment responds exactly to the yearning of the Brave population.

According to the same source, as announced by the Minister of Defense, Janine Lélis, and by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, the deployment of this deployment in the Fogo e Brava region was already included in the strategic plan since 2017, having been possible only today. and the important thing is that it is here and that it works.

In this same vein, Clóvis Silva announced that the Coast Guard vessel made its first transfer of patients today, which demonstrates that in the future patient transfers will not be carried out in the way they were being done until now.

Another project in which the deputy left his point of view is in relation to the health center, a project that, according to him, pleased him, and that “is something that, if in fact implemented on the island, will solve several situations of assistance that there have been several complaints from the population”, hoping that it will be soon and that it is not just a project.

However, he warned the Government to analyze the issue of the economy of Brava, considering that the economy of Brava is at a standstill, showing that “there are no investments and no opportunities for young people on the island”.

In this regard, the deputy from the main opposition party reinforced that opportunities for young people in Brava are not identical to those in Praia or Fogo.

Hence, he underlined that it is necessary to bring investment to the island, and if the private sector is not coming, the public has to come, mainly in the key sectors, namely, the primary sector, in food production, supporting farmers, breeders, fishermen and other primary areas that are not having opportunities.

According to the same source, investments have greatly reduced in these sectors and if there is no public intervention, the island will continue to see young people migrate to other islands and the population will leave abroad.
