Brava: Education Delegate ensures that everything is ready for the start of the academic year

In an interview with Inforpress, Vergílio Lopes assured that everything is ready for the start of classes, highlighting that some “furniture” repairs are being made and creating all the conditions in material terms for the start of classes next Monday without any surprises. .

“Right now, most schools already have basic conditions to receive students. We only have two schools that are still under construction, namely the one in Furna and Palhal, but nothing that will prevent classes from starting”, he guaranteed.

According to the same source, a provisional number of 1606 students from Pre-School to Secondary Education are expected for the start of the new school year, under the responsibility of 130 teachers distributed between the two groups, namely Nova Sintra and Nossa Senhora do Monte.

Regarding teaching staff, he reported that in the current academic year, nine teachers were transferred to other municipalities and that seven new ones are already on the island to replace them, and that they are still awaiting the arrival of a few more.

“With around four requests for unpaid leave and two retirements, there were some vacancies left to be filled, which could number up to a dozen, depending on our needs”, he added.

On the issue of school transport, Vergílio Lopes assured that they are paying attention to this issue together with the Brava City Council, also guaranteeing that coordinated work is being done so that drivers are properly prepared to transport students.

Referring to school canteens, the person in charge assured that all foods made available by the Cape Verdean Foundation for School Social Action (Ficase) are already available on the island.
