The campaign “More prevention, less improvisation” was presented today to the educational community and will be implemented throughout the school year throughout the national territory.
Speaking to Inforpress, Nilza Sequeira, a member of this campaign's commission, stressed that they will work to prevent, alerting children about different situations that occur in their daily lives and that leave marks and consequences for life.
Hence, they intend to alert children so that such situations do not happen and the committee on the island, made up of four elements, has already prepared an activity plan, which will be implemented throughout the entire school year.
The commission, said Nilza Sequeira, is going to create a group of more active children, where they themselves will drive these campaigns, taking this information to other children, as it argues that when children share information, the impact is greater than when it is transmitted from adults to children.
For parents and guardians, the prospect is to carry out a door-to-door awareness campaign, in different locations on the island, accompanied by the children.
In turn, the education delegate, Orlando Burgo, said that schools should be "free spaces" that promote healthy acts and an environment of trust for all their users.
Therefore, it defends that they must be “free” of any type of practices and behaviors that contribute to the violation of the fundamental rights of children and adolescents.
Of these rights, he highlighted the right to family life, the right to health and development, the right to education, the right to culture, sport and leisure, the right to participation and the right to protection against all types of violence.
According to the delegate, this campaign aims beyond the "promotion" of the rights of children and adolescents, the "creation" of an environment of social pressure on all those who violate these rights.
