Isaura Vieira is from Brave, an emigrant for 48 years in Holland, and this year, she decided to open the doors of her house to receive more than a hundred children from Brave this Christmas.
In conversation with Inforpress, this emigrant said that it is a promise she made when she was young, because when emigrants arrived on the island, she would visit them as a child in the hope that they would give her some “sign of love”, but often the expectation did not match reality.
“We were from a poor family, and when an emigrant arrived, he expected to receive a gift. I made errands, supported them but they didn't always give me anything”, recalled the emigrant.
For this reason, she said that she promised that if she ever had the conditions, she would do something to see a “different” smile on the faces of little children, especially during the festive season.
This year, it prepared to receive around one hundred children, as it recognized that it has no possibility of receiving more this year.
But, for those at his house, in addition to snacks and lunch, they will receive gifts, although he added that not all will receive the same.
Some have dolls, others bears, other clothes, socks, binoculars, depending on age and what you have available in your stock, but it will be delivered with lots of love.
According to her, she is not carrying out this activity for “greatness” or to demonstrate superiority, but rather, it is because today she already has the means and she knows that many children do not receive gifts at this time, because the life situation is increasingly complicated and the parents are not always able to give them.
In addition to the children, he intends to visit and deliver a basic basket to the Red Cross on the island and to patients at the Brava Health Department.
For the next year, this promoter has already started to make contact to carry out a new edition, foreseeing to cover a larger number of children.
Inforpress found that on the island almost no activities are carried out for children at this time, except in kindergartens or schools, churches and some emigrants who, on their own initiative or through associations, make some donations or snacks for this layer.
But, publicly involving all of them, it is difficult to bring them together and even there is no space for them to play, a square or a park for the little ones.
