The information was provided to Inforpress by the person in charge of the service on the island, António Lopes, stressing that after the announcement of the forecast of rains, the team was in a state of alert and made rounds through the locations considered “more critical”, having come across a drop of stones on the road to Fajã d´Água, João da Noli in Mato Grande and the fall of a protective wall near a residence in the town of Paul.

According to the same source, the rain fell during the night of Tuesday and is still falling, with forecast to continue in the next few days, but that until then it has been a “gentle” rain, but as there is a forecast for the fall of more rains, asks people to remain calm and, in case of emergency, to activate the support of the teams “who are prepared for any eventuality”.

He announced that they would be on the ground 24 hours a day to work with the population, if necessary, and took the opportunity to ask people to always remain alert to take the necessary precautions in order to avoid major constraints.

"We are in a state of alert and we appeal to the entire community of Brave to take this alert as something real, because it is normal to rain or not, taking into account that everything is nature's design", said the same source, noting that "more It is better to be prepared than to be taken by surprise.”

In view of the occurrences detected so far, he informed that he had already made the necessary contacts to pass on the information to the National Civil Protection Service and to the Municipality of Brava in order to be aware and to take the necessary measures to restore normality.

He also stressed that until then there had been no material damage, no human losses or alarming situations that could worry the population, but continues to ask society to adopt and comply with the measures announced by the national authorities.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG) informed, in a statement, last Monday, 28, that Cape Verde will be until the 1st of September, under the influence of a tropical wave, which moves in the West-Northwest direction, likely to develop into a tropical depression.

According to the same source, during its trajectory, widespread rain of varying intensity is expected, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, significant intensification of the wind and consequent worsening of the state of the sea.
