Brava: Grupo Mocidade starts activities with a cleaning campaign

The cultural group Mocidade carried out a cleaning campaign on the bathing beach of Cadjetinha, in the town of Furna, to start its activities after the holiday period and thus prepare events for fundraising.

Raquel Rodrigues, president of the Mocidade group, explained to Inforpress that they had been planning some activity to restart work for some time, taking into account that during the holiday period they were inactive.

From there, he added that some elements of the group visited Cadjetinha beach and found a large amount of rubbish, which left them “indignant”, thus launching the challenge to the group, to start activities with a cleaning campaign on the spot.

Given the challenge, the group “embraced” the cause, with the support of a private individual on the island and the local authority, they carried out the campaign.

However, the director stressed that when they arrived at the place, what they found is that whoever drives to this beach, “does not have the spirit of nature preservation”.

Because, according to the same, they leave remains of everything they used, plastics, glass, among other garbage.

And, because it is a beach that has a little sand and is more accessible, as the other sandy beach is in a more distant location, Raquel Rodrigues considers that this should be treated “differently and with more care”.

Also because, commented that they found a turtle nest on this beach, which for her is one more reason to keep this space preserved and clean.

It also asks for the collaboration of nearby residents, in order to make their contribution, that is, when they come across rubbish on the beach to activate the services of the city hall so that it arranges for cleaning or collection of rubbish on the spot.

In addition, similar to what happens in Fajã d´Água, which according to the same there is a person guarding the space, controlling and contributing to the cleanliness of the place, the same could be done on Cadjetinha beach.

In terms of continuity, Raquel Rodrigues advanced that for the next few days they intend to organize a cleaning campaign in Nova Sintra and then they will start cultural events and activities, with a focus on raising funds to organize activities and the “traditional” end of the year party. of year.
