Brava: Health department organizes fair to bring health and information outside the hospital premises

The Brava Health Department organizes on Friday, a health fair in Nova Sintra, in Eugénio Tavares square, to mark the World Day of Awareness of Violence Against the Elderly.

This information was provided to Inforpress by nurse Sónia Tavares, stressing that the aim is to bring health to the streets of the island, to alert society about chronic diseases, stressing that patients do not always give the attention they deserve and end up complicating things your situation.

In this sense, it showed that the main focus is on raising awareness and screening for chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.

According to the nurse, it is necessary to show people the complications of these diseases, trying to make them more attentive to these diseases, taking into account that they are silent.

He also highlighted that some awareness actions will be carried out on Sexually Transmitted Diseases, but that the health team will also offer patients and users blood pressure screening, blood glucose measurement, HIV screening, medical and nursing consultations.

Sónia Tavares calls for a massive participation of the population, warning of the need to control these chronic non-communicable diseases, reinforcing that in less than a year, two young people from Brave suffered a Cerebral Vascular Accident (CVA) with permanent sequelae.
