Brava: ICCA intends to work “hand in hand” with schools in raising awareness about parental responsibility

The psychologist from the Cape Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA) in Brava said today that she intends to work hand in hand with the island's schools to raise awareness about parental responsibility.

Mileida Cabral spoke to Inforpress, after a lecture on parental responsibility, given at the Escola Básica de Nossa Senhora do Monte (EBNSM), also organized in partnership with the Educational Complex of Nova Sintra (CENS), with the aim of raising awareness among parents and responsible for education about their responsibilities, believing that this will change the behavior of students in schools and society in general.

According to the same source, the feeling was of great joy, justifying that "it is difficult to bring together so many parents and guardians in an activity of this type" and today it had a massive participation.

With the interaction of the audience, Mileida Cabral says she believes that the message was clear and that she managed to pass it on, asking parents to be closer to the schools, as it is up to them to educate their children, stressing that the school it has only the function of complementing what should be transmitted at home.

For this year, he informed that various activities are planned and that ICCA will work hand in hand with schools to carry them out, in order to raise awareness and show parents and guardians of the various problems that are plaguing society and society. role of each one to “minimize” this situation.

Within this activity, Vergílio Pires, director of EBNSM, also showed his satisfaction with the “massive” participation of parents and guardians, stressing that it was the first time that they organized an activity of this type and managed to get such a full audience.

On the subject, he considered it to be of general interest, noting that in society, "many parents still give up what should be the care, monitoring and responsibility for their children in all sectors, including education".

But, with this lecture, he says he believes that they left the place sensitized, motivated and engaged with this commitment in the sense of being able to accompany and follow their children so that education and behavior are even better.

This official also emphasized that this action does not end today, reinforcing that it is a cycle that can be extended to other communities to reach parents who normally do not travel from their areas to participate in activities of the kind.

In addition, he maintained that they intend to bring other topics in the sense of sharing information, clarifying, informing parents regarding various matters of interest to them and that have to do with schools and society in general, in order to build families, society and live better.

In turn, Milena Gomes, Deputy Director for Social Affairs at CENS, explained that the purpose of this partnership is to inform and sensitize parents about their responsibilities and the role they play in their children's education.

According to her, in all the schools in the group, the subject, considered to be the "most worrying", has been seen as a lack of responsibility on the part of parents, thus justifying the beginning of this cycle of lectures and awareness campaign with this theme that plan to expand to all Brava schools and communities.

On the part of the parents and guardian, Daniel Lobo considered this meeting as “very special” because it helps and guides a lot in the education process, which today has lost some values.

As for the loss of values, he recalled that parents are the example of their children and if they want to have an organized society it will depend on the behavior of each guardian and parents and what they transmit to the children.
From there, he stressed that it is necessary to impose limits and not leave “ordinary children”, indicating that there are freedoms, but that there must also be limits.

In this sense, it asks each parent and society as a whole to unite and change the scenario that society is going through today, reinforcing that everything has to be in tune.
