Brava/Alcohol Law: “If the population respects and complies with the rules, there will be no major constraints” – police

The head of the Brava police station, Higor Almeida, assured today that if sellers and consumers absorb the information, respect and comply with the rules on the new alcohol law, “there will be no major constraints”.

Higor Almeida gave this guarantee in an interview to Inforpress, after adding that on Friday and Saturday, together with the city council, they visited all commercial establishments on the island, from mini markets, supermarkets, grocery stores and registered bars, in an awareness-raising action on the new alcohol law that goes into effect today.

According to him, they decided to carry out this door-to-door awareness campaign because they found in the proximity policing service that information about this new law was being passed on in a “somewhat distorted way” and generating “some doubts”.

He added that each one was expressing his opinion about the law, not transmitting information “in due conformity”.

In order not to have to face various constraints due to lack of information, the police decided, in addition to raising awareness, to distribute some pamphlets with items of the new law, which, according to the head of the station, are the “most pertinent” and explained the content of the law. law, giving guidelines for those who wanted to research more.

And, on the ground, the same source indicated that some people demonstrated that they “did not have the true notion of the law”, and the police officers came across cases in which some people thought it was a ban on the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

With the work done, Higor Almeida says he believes that people already have a sense of what the new law demands are and if they absorb everything, the police and the inspection team will not face “big problems”.
