The living forces of Brava meet on Thursday, with the aim of continuing the process of creating the Municipal Committee for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents, as indicated in the Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA).
In a note sent to Inforpress by the Delegation of the Cabo Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA) and by the Municipality of Brava, it is emphasized that within the scope of the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Combat of Sexual Violence Against Children and Adolescents 2022 -2024, there was a “need” for the creation and operation of the Municipal Committee for the Defense of the Rights of Children and Adolescents on the island of Brava.
The meeting, as highlighted by the same source, aims to talk about the subject, its importance, define who will be part of the committee's governing body, as well as discuss the problems of childhood on the island and draw up plans of activities.
A first meeting had already been held on the 31st of January, but the committee was not created, hence the need to meet again and carry out the work.
Quoting the ECA, in its article 74° point 2, the note emphasizes that “the Municipal Committees are administrative bodies at municipal level, made up of representatives of public and private institutions that provide services in the municipality”.
