Brava: Mayor makes “positive balance” of the eight years of Vila de Nossa Senhora do Monte recognizing that it is not at the desired level
Mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, today made a “positive assessment” of the eight years since Nossa Senhora do Monte was raised to the status of town, although he recognized that it is still not at the desired level.
The mayor made these statements in an interview with Inforpress, during the celebration of the 8th anniversary of the elevation of Nossa Senhora do Monte to the category of Town, marked this Tuesday, August 15.
“In fact, the development of Nossa Senhora do Monte is still not at a level that is the desire of the city council team since it was elevated to the category of village”, said Francisco Tavares, stressing that even so, the village has seen several city council investments and some government.
Of these investments, he listed the improvement of many streets, namely, Achada Candinha, Laranjeira, Tomé Barraz, Chã de Sousa, among others, but also showed that “a great investment” was made in the rehabilitation and requalification of the local multipurpose area and all its adjacent compartments and the construction of a small square in front of this multipurpose space.
Likewise, the mayor of Brava indicated some interventions within the scope of the rehabilitation and requalification of several houses, but also the construction of bathrooms for several families.
In these eight years, Francisco Tavares considered that there was an improvement in the economic dynamics of this village, namely, with private individuals investing more in their businesses, highlighting two large merchants in the parish, but also the emergence of snack bars and restaurants in the village.
The mayor highlighted the fact that the Central School of the village became a Complex and now with classes up to the 8th grade and also some improvements in this school, reinforcing that there is already a major project for its total requalification of this school that will “dignify the village better”.
As for the village's development process and response to some of the residents' demands, such as an ATM and other decentralized services, he underlined that despite the council having made the necessary contacts to see if any of the banking institutions would place a box Vinti4 in the locality, until now it was not possible, even with all the facilities of space and guard.
As Francisco Tavares emphasized, there are aspects that go beyond the municipality, where in addition to the demand for an ATM, he indicated the demand for the need to have a larger, more effective police presence and with more time in the village, the request for agencies to provide services from some entities, namely CVTelecom, Águabrava, Correios, Electra, suggesting that for these services, a private initiative would be a good option.
According to the same source, a private initiative could set up a service provision office and unite the main basic services, since these companies claim that the volume of business and movement does not justify having these services in Vila de Nossa Senhora do Monte.
Francisco Tavares also listed some demands that he has received from the population of this village, namely a grass football field and a sports plaque in the locality of Palhal, a Day Home for the Elderly, claims that he considers to be fair.
As for the grass football field, he informed that there is still no guaranteed financing, but for the sports board of Palhal, he advanced that within a bank loan, the amount will come out for its construction.
“A positive balance, but one that still does not fully satisfy what is the ambition of the city council”, concluded the mayor.
