Brava: Municipal Civil Protection asks fishermen to follow preventive measures during the rainy season

This official made this appeal in statements to Inforpress, when commenting on the case of a fisherman from the town of Furna who had been missing since this Wednesday afternoon and who “thanks to God he was rescued in time, and is now in House".

In this sense, António Lopes asked the fishermen of the island, mainly from the three fishing communities, namely, Furna, Fajã d´Água and Lomba Tantum, to follow the recommendations announced by the National Civil Protection Service (SNPC) and by the alerts issued by the National Institute Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG).

According to the same source, it is necessary to avoid more serious constraints during this period, reinforcing that the recommendations are to warn people so that nothing serious and unexpected happens at sea at this time.

Hence, he reinforced that the municipal service will continue to make this alert and pass the message on to those responsible and to the fishermen who leave in boats with open mouths to avoid these exits, mainly, during the period in which the alert of the passage of a tropical wave.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Geophysics (INMG) warned today that Cape Verde will be under the influence of a tropical wave today and Friday, the 18th, which should cause a “significant worsening of the weather”.

According to the same source, the adverse conditions will be felt “with greater incidence” on the islands of Santiago, Fogo and Brava, in the Sotavento group, and on the islands of São Vicente and Santo Antão, in the Barlavento.
