Brava: PAICV asks the Minister of the Sea to take over the resolution of the transport problem or resign
The Regional Political Commission (CPR) of the PAICV today asked the Minister of the Sea to assume responsibility for resolving the problem of transport to and from Brava or to resign from his duties.
The Regional Political Commission (CPR) of the PAICV today asked the Minister of the Sea to assume responsibility for resolving the problem of transport to and from Brava or to resign from his duties.
This request was made in a press release, following the announcement by CV InterIlhas to reduce connecting trips to and from Brava to twice a week, namely Friday and Saturday.
According to the same source, the transport situation to and from Brava has been “screaming” and the tendency is to get worse day by day.
“The situation on Brava will tend to get even worse and there is no other way out. Either the Minister of the Sea assumes the resolution of the problem with the necessary courage, on behalf of the Government, or he resigns, because CV InterIlhas does and undoes in the Fogo e Brava region at will”, demands the CPR.
For the PAICV, the statements by the mayor, Francisco Tavares, came to justify what this Political Commission has been denouncing for a year now, with only the Government assuming the “total failure” of the transport policy of the MpD Government and the chaos in the public transport in the maritime sector that this government relegated to Ilha Brava, underlining that for the PAICV the best interests of the population were always at stake.
“It is not today that the cargo and passenger transport service for Brava has been degraded, this has been since the beginning of the Government supported by the MPD, when they began the dismantling of the national maritime fleet. And the rope, as always, would have to break on the weaker side”, reinforcing that not even the President of the Republic got rid of this situation, having been “prevented” from reaching Brava about two months ago and did not have the reaction of no member of the Government or even of the Brava City Council.
“Brava does not deserve this disregard and this Government without ideas, without attitudes and without future perspectives, much less an apathetic City Council, which has Brava completely stopped, without investments and without any opportunity for the people of Brava”, he accused.
Finally, the CPR made it clear in the statement that the PAICV "will not lower its arms", reminding the Government that it must also govern for Brava, also defending that if the President of the Municipality of Brava had joined the voice of the bravens and to the PAICV from the beginning to fight against this situation, perhaps it would not reach this point.
