Brava: Police station starts Safe School 2019/2020 project

The Brava police station started programming the Safe School project for the 2019/2020 school year, as a way of guaranteeing the safety conditions of the school population.

As explained by the commander of the police station, Higor Almeida, to Inforpress, these actions started right away with the beginning of school activities on the island, trying to cover all schools, through the availability of agents in service who do the policing near the schools of Monday to Saturday.

In addition to being present, the staff carry out visits to the pre-school and even schools, passing on information, and with actions to raise awareness among students and other players in the educational system, regarding safety issues.

Also, he added, they try to promote school safety behavior through surveillance of schools, policing the usual routes to access schools.

The commander recognized that they are unable to cover all schools at the same time and every day due to the lack of staff, but they have redoubled their efforts to carry out the program.

The Escola Segura project has been implemented in the country since 2012, and has a nationwide scope, a measure that intends to address the issue of insecurity in Cape Verde, using a preventive pedagogical approach.

It includes all education and teaching establishments, public, private and cooperative and is ensured by police agents.
