The residents of Cachaço, in the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte, which is about 8km from Nova Sintra, today submitted a petition to CV Telecom services, claiming a mobile and Internet network in the area.

The group's spokesperson, Benvinda Pinto, explained to Inforpress that the initiative was an organized group, taking into account the various complications they face related to health, isolation, information, among other issues, due to the lack of a mobile network. or from the Internet.

According to the same source, the petition had 109 subscribers, noting that only those over 18 years old had this opportunity, taking into account that the document required the subscriber's identification document number.

But, he underlined that teenagers aged between 16 and 17 feel this firsthand, knowing that today's world is connected by new technologies.

“For some time now, they have promised to bring Cachaço to the mobile network, but still nothing. There are some people who have a landline phone and Internet at home, but not everyone has the conditions to do so,” said the resident, stressing that even with the landline network there are several constraints.

Benvinda Pinto stressed that, in her opinion, the number of people residing in the locality justifies the provision of a mobile network both for calls and for Internet use.

With regard to calls, he added that Alcatel branded mobile phones sold at CV Móvel were able to catch a bit of the network on the neighboring island, Fogo, but the other brands did not.

The same source said that they had already missed specialist consultations in the city of Praia, since when making an appointment at the Health Department a contact is requested, but anyone who does not have a landline to benefit from mobile phone services must be outside the locality.

Despite calls for consultations or even for other purposes, this village claims improvements in the network even for their children who are at school and often feel the need to search for some information.

“Many say that before there was none in any area and we know that. But now it is, we think we are all the same and we do not deserve to be isolated for a service that we will also pay for”, concluded the source, hoping that the situation will be resolved.

This document, according to information collected from CV Telecom's services on the island, will be sent to those responsible for due attention.
