Brava: President of the city council makes a “positive assessment” of the festivities of the Municipality and of the patron saint
The mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, today made a "positive" assessment of all the activities carried out to commemorate the Day of the Municipality and of the patron saint, São João Baptista, celebrated on the 24th of June.
Speaking to the press, the mayor recalled that a series of activities had been organised, namely sports competitions, an agricultural fair, a lecture, inaugurations, a music festival, innovation in the live transmission of activities, various activities around the flag festival, among others, which “took place in a level of civility and high participation of society”.
The mayor underlined that some aspects were detected that need to be fine-tuned and improved, mainly with regard to the days of the show, but guaranteed that it is something that will be worked on gradually.
As for the festival, he highlighted the fact that they had given several young people from Brave the opportunity to present their works on the island's stage, which even though they were in playback showed to have a "high potential", promising that the municipality will work with these young people for the next editions and performances.
In relation to the other artists, who came from outside the island, he highlighted that there were some already established and others still young at the beginning of their careers, but who managed to get the message across.
Therefore, he considered that the balance is positive, recognizing that there are some aspects that still need to be improved, but that the municipality is attentive to this.
The music festival, like the previous year, was outsourced and, regarding this aspect, the mayor advanced that for the next year or the next editions, it will depend on some factors, mainly if there is more than one proposal, recognizing that this time, there were delays by the city council itself in launching the tender.
He took the opportunity to congratulate two young people from Brave who seized this opportunity and “managed” to offer the public two days of music festival, recognizing that “it is not easy”, but he considered that they managed to put on a festival with “quality” and the idea is to continue to outsource ever.
“I don't think it's the city council's responsibility and 'know-how' to organize events”, said Francisco Tavares, stressing that whenever possible, this responsibility is passed on to companies, preferably local residents, who specialize and gain knowledge in the area.
