Brava: Reading of the Gospel and homily on Christmas Eve were of biblical representation and reflection

On Christmas night, the Catholics from Brava attended a reading of the Gospel through biblical representation and the homily was a moment of individual reflection, as a way of interiorizing everything that happened that night.

After the solemn mass, in statements to Inforpress, Friar Matias explained that this was a “different” way of making the gospel of the incarnation of the Son of God, through the biblical representation of the birth of Jesus.

He stressed that the young people committed themselves, they put on a “beautiful” performance, in theatrical form, but not theater, helping those present to live and relive the Gospel.

The homily, in which it is customary, then the gospel, listening to it given by the priest, with reflections and updates of all the readings given, on Christmas night was a moment of individual reflection and silence.

According to the religious, since everyone had already visually contemplated the scene of the gospel as “as faithful as possible”, he chose that the moment after the staging was one of interiorization and meditation.

“This explains the silence that I recommended before, to meditate and interiorize everything we had lived from the beginning of the mass to the moment and this served as a preparation for the next stage that we would enter afterwards”, said the priest, adding that the birth of Christ is closely linked to the mystery of the incarnation.

According to him, the birth of Christ in the manger in Bethlehem means the “House of Bread” and then the altar where Mass is celebrated “gives bread as food”.

For Christians and the population in general, Friar Matias stressed that the message he leaves for Christmas is the same as always. “That first of all they may see the humility of the son of God”.

And, citing a letter from Pope Francis who asked Christians to value the Crib, the priest stressed that the letter made “clear” the humility of God that comes in Christ.

“Faced with this fact, it's hard for us to understand this, but the mystery of God is like that, it's unpredictable, and in Christ, God became a boy and that's how he presented himself”, commented Friar Matias.

He also stressed that when talking about a child, a boy, one is talking about purity, simplicity, but also about poverty as dependency.

And based on that, he added that what is transmitted at this time is a message of love, peace, humility, tenderness, which the world presents in a “brutal way” and on Christmas night, tries to present it with simplicity.
