Brava: Recovering even partial vision was a “miracle” – Marly

Marly Macedo is a 12-year-old child, living in Tomé Barras, Brava, the inspiration of Marly's Miracle Foundation, which helped her recover part of her vision at the age of 10, which she considers to be a "miracle".

Marly Macedo and her father João Macedo told Inforpress a bit of the story of this girl, who “moved” an emigrant and who, through her, created a foundation that today is supporting all the islands of Cape Verde.

The child's father told Inforpress that this deficiency came from birth and on the third day after the birth of his daughter, they looked for doctors, but they were told that the daughter had “water birth”.

“She grew up and we saw that her disability prevailed and we decided to take her to consultations in the city of Praia”, said João Macedo, adding that these consultations and treatments did not help his daughter and she learned to live with her disability. and her parents always supported her, but without the hope of recovering her sight.

However, in 2017, when Marly had already been living with her disability for 10 years, an emigrant from Brave, resident in the United States, saw her and was moved by her difficulty.

From there, she returned to the US, found ways, contacted her relatives and convinced them to let Marly travel abroad for treatment, and even without knowing this person, João Macedo said that they put faith and trust, because their greatest desire was see her daughter regain her sight.

After a few months of treatments, Maria Pereira returned to Brava and brought Marly with her eyesight a little recovered and also to meet her family that she had not known until then.

Through Marly's eyes, Maria Pereira was able to see another side of the world and created Marly's Miracle Foundation, which, in addition to helping her “inspiration”, already reached all the islands of Cape Verde within nine months.

For Marly, this was nothing more, nothing less than an answer from God to the many requests that she always made.

“Never gave up. I always had the hope that better days would come. Until the “angel” appeared in my life and today, I don't see it 100%, but I can already do everything a normal child does”, said Marly, full of faith.

With this same faith, he asked other people with difficulties or in despair for some reason not to give up, because one day the “divine light” will knock on their doors.

Regarding the continuity of treatment, Maria Pereira said that the girl's case is a bit delicate and in conversation with the doctors, the next intervention requires her to spend about a year in the USA.

Therefore, he added that he will have to organize himself and then see the possibility of taking Marly for another surgical intervention and a series of treatments.
