Today, Sunday, Red Cross volunteers delivered basic baskets to more than one hundred families, all over the island of Brava, collected in the “Donate love in the form of food” campaign.
Sónia Coelho, president of the Red Cross Local Council, said in an interview with Inforpress that the campaign ran as normal, making a “very positive” assessment of the involvement of all commercial houses on the island and the involvement of its team of volunteers.
In addition, he noted that there was “complete openness and support” on the part of the outgoing team, which guided and supported them at each stage of the process, from collection to identification of beneficiaries.
“We were super satisfied, since we had just a few days to carry out the campaign and it was possible to collect a very expressive amount of food that allowed us to benefit more than one hundred families in this phase”, informed the president.
The campaign was carried out only in commercial establishments, not having yet had the need to go door-to-door, since, as Sónia Coelho highlighted, Brave's solidarity was demonstrated in stores.
This fact, which led the leader to thank the people of the island for the kindness shown and called on them to continue with this feeling, supporting those who need it most.
Today, volunteers took to the streets in all areas of the island, giving the elderly, the bedridden, people with disabilities and some needy families their “sign of love, solidarity and compassion” for this festive season.
According to the same source, the campaign has already been extended until the month of January, and on the island, like the others, it will continue, but the baskets that had already been collected wanted to deliver them even before Christmas and later, at the end of the campaign. can reinforce the baskets to the most needy.
For these families, this was one of the “best” demonstrations of affection they received at this time, where some cried with emotion, had the opportunity to talk and vent in front of people who listened to them “carefully”.
And those who did this work assured that it was a “different” day and that the feeling they had when showing all the love and affection to these people who reciprocated with “the same intensity”, there is no explanation.
