Brava: Red Cross prepares Christmas party for the island's elderly
The president of the Local Council of the Red Cross in Brava, Sónia Coelho, announced today that everything is ready for the Christmas party for the elderly, scheduled for Friday, 20th.
Speaking to the media, Sónia Coelho highlighted that this year the institute entered into a partnership with the Day Centre called Dona Edith Gomes da Silva, with the aim of further encompassing socialising and having a greater number of elderly people than in previous years.
“Our hope is to bring together elderly people from all over the island for this celebration. However, it is not yet possible, but we will be able to bring together a larger number than in previous years. The event will begin at 9:00 am, with a Catholic Eucharist, games and lunch,” he said.
As the president emphasized, Christmas is a day of love and fellowship with those close to us, and therefore, this is the moment when the organization can bring together more elderly people from different locations.
Hence, he highlighted that on the day of the event, the elderly will all be happy, considering that they will meet up with long-time friends and acquaintances, who they have not seen for a long time.
However, he concluded by guaranteeing that for the elderly who are unable to participate in the gathering, due to illness or other reasons, the organization will send a symbolic gesture to make them feel happy this Christmas.
