At the opening of the five-day training, trainer Rildo Tavares highlighted that the objective is to share with trainees the new rules of the sport, namely refereeing techniques and tactics.

According to the same source, futsal in Cape Verde has undergone “great evolution” and therefore, he considered, it must always be “evolving and not regressing”.

“With the new changes, Brava showed all its interest and I am here to accompany them and I hope that, similar to what has been happening, all over the country, young people will join this project. I am sure that we will leave with the awareness that the island is following new developments”, he highlighted.

Meanwhile, Rildo Tavares highlighted that two competitions have already been held at national level, having regretted the non-participation of Brava referees because he found that they needed “retraining”.

“We believe that from now on, with the work that will be done in this formation, we will have Brava referees present in the next national competitions”, he stated.

On the occasion, the president of Brava City Council, Francisco Tavares, intervened requesting “maximum” support from young people, so that the island has a sufficient number of trained referees and that in the future it can have an official competition on the island.

“This training is fundamental, without it it would not be possible to move forward with the project of holding local futsal competitions. From now on, I think we will have representatives in the national competitions”, he reinforced.

For his part, Herculano Gomes, one of those enrolled in the course, assured that this training will help them to know the rules, since before it was “football”, but now it is futsal and the rules are totally different.

“It’s to make our contribution to futsal here at Brava, lately the sport has been growing and we are feeling that we have a lack of referees, so I consider knowledge of the rules to be extremely important”, he concluded.
