Brava hosts the VII castration and deworming campaign to control the canine population
The Bons Amigos association is in Brava in a partnership with other institutions to carry out a castration and deworming campaign for the canine population, which started today and runs until the next 12th.
The information was provided to Inforpress by Lara Baptista, a veterinarian at the Associação Bons Amigos, explaining that this is the 7th castration campaign that has been carried out in the municipality, with the aim not only of maintaining stray animals, but also of treating and deworming and continuing the process of training local people to help the team in the work.
According to the same source, this is the municipality that most supports these stray animal population management activities and as it is the seventh time on the island, people already trust the team and bring the animals, justifying that in many municipalities they are the members of the team they go looking for and if they are neutered, the owners do not take them to be dewormed.
Lara Baptista stressed that the issue and result of these actions is not only the management of reproduction control, but also an improvement in the health status of animals and people, which she considers to be “very positive” when seeing the results.
This time, it showed that the campaign will be carried out in just four days, to continue the mega-campaign carried out at the end of 2022, where the intention is to carry out maintenance, sterilize what remained to be sterilized and continue the training of local people in catching street dogs.
The campaign takes place on Sunday and Monday in Nova Sintra, Tuesday in the parish of Nossa Senhora do Monte and on Wednesday in the town of Furna.
