The Multidisciplinary Team for the Support of Inclusive Education (EMAEI) in Brava has on its agenda a set of activities to be carried out on the 2nd of April, in Nova Sintra, to mark World Autism Day.
This information was provided to Inforpress by the EMAEI coordinator, Edoneia Teixeira, noting that the aim of these activities to be carried out in Eugénio Tavares square is to raise awareness and alert society about Autism and how to deal with it.
It is also intended to draw society's attention to the importance of knowing this day and disseminating more information about Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as "reducing discrimination and prejudice that surround people affected by Autism".
The programme, in addition to information sections, also includes recreational activities for children and the event will close with the release of blue balloons.
In order to continue the activities to raise people's awareness about ASD, Edoneia Teixeira also informed that during the month of April, at least three more activities will be carried out, all with the same objective.
World Autism Day, celebrated annually on April 2, was created by the United Nations on December 18, 2007 to raise awareness about this issue.
