The young man from Brave, transferred to the Fogo regional hospital on Sunday night following a boat accident, in the town of Tantum, is already stabilized, doctor Paloma Fernandes told Inforpress.

The doctor said that the 31-year-old victim arrived at the Health Department on Sunday afternoon, with suspected internal bleeding, due to the trauma suffered and, due to “lack of local means”, was immediately transported to the neighboring island.

The same source also added that in conversation with the nurse who accompanied the young man to the island of Fogo, he confirmed that the patient was immediately submitted to surgery and that he is now stabilized.

The accident occurred following a collision between two boats with their mouth open, in Tantum Bay.

As the commander of the Brava Police Station, Higor Almeida, explained to Inforpress, one of the boats was stopped to collect bait and the other came towards him, with the swell causing the collision.

Also according to the police source, the victim was taken to the town of Fajã d´Água to facilitate transport, where he was rescued by police agents on the island and transported to the hospital.

Taking into account what happened, the commander urges fishermen to have “greater and better prudence” in driving their vessels, more attention to speed, especially inside the bays, in order to avoid material damage and endanger the physical integrity of others. and of life itself.
