Simão Borges, 32 years old, born in Praia, resident on Brava Island, already has his single “BASTA” available on digital platforms, as a “cry of manifestation for the suffering” of Brava.

Speaking to Inforpress, this young man said that he started singing hymns in church and today he is one of the artists with a lot of acceptance on the stages of Brave, and what he tries to do is to bring songs for the fun of young people, but also songs with messages of positivity and that invite society to reflect and be active.

As for the single “BASTA”, he explained that this was the anthem of the demonstration held last August and he could not leave it in a drawer, thus deciding to release it on digital platforms to show the world the pain of the people of Brave.

According to this artist, what the song portrays is precisely the message that was conveyed at the demonstration, but it also describes situations that have been taking place on Brava for several years, namely the issue of transport, also highlighting the fact that “in the 21st century people are to die on Brava due to the lack of conditions in the local health services or transport for the transfer of patients to the island of Fogo”.

These situations, as described by the young man, “are inhumane” and through this single he described this situation, in which anyone, regardless of whether they know Brava or not, can imagine the pain of those who live on the island.

In his personal and artistic field, he advanced that his objective is not to be famous, but to establish a link between him and society and music gives him that access.

So much so that, as he highlighted, in his songs he always tries to transmit messages that make young people reflect and invites them to be proactive, that is, “not to be apathetic to certain situations that occur in society”.
