In 1999, Eugênia made the courageous decision to leave Brava Island to settle in Pawtucket, a city in the state of Rhode Island, in the United States. Her journey began with the hope of better professional opportunities, and she was willing to face the challenges inherent in moving to a new country and a different culture.

The early years in Pawtucket were not without difficulties. Eugênia faced the challenge of adapting to a new environment, learning a new language and integrating into a multicultural society. However, her determination and hard work soon began to pay off.

Ten years after arriving in the United States, in 2007, Eugênia took a new step in her journey and moved to the state of Oklahoma. Her motivation for this move was driven by new professional opportunities and a desire to explore a different environment once again. In Oklahoma, she found a welcoming and diverse community where she could continue to develop her skills and contribute to her new community.

Eugênia Elrod's journey is a testament to the inner strength and courage that people have when seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Today she lives in the city of Grand Lake Grove, Oklahoma, a city that she says she loves and that she does not intend to leave.
