Bravense highlights the increasingly “screaming” and “disheartening” situation of transport to and from Brava

Zezinho Rocha, from Brava and managing partner of one of the largest commercial establishments on Brava, said today that the situation of connecting transport to and from Brava is increasingly “screaming and discouraging”.
Speaking to the press, Zezinho Rocha lamented the situation that has been happening with the island in terms of connecting trips, stressing that this is a situation that wears down the people of Brave for several reasons.
“It is a situation in which the people of Brave already feel tired for different reasons”, said the same source, justifying that the situation is increasingly “screaming and discouraging”.
The island received a trip from the ship Dona Tututa, coming and going on the route Praia – Fogo – Brava and vice versa on Monday and it was only possible to have another connection with that same ship, but this time Praia – Brava – Praia today , since the sea of Fogo is rough, thus not allowing the journey of the Interilhas Praia- Fogo – Brava and vice versa, which was scheduled for last Thursday, March 2nd.
With the trip made today, and due to the state of the sea in Fogo, the trip scheduled for Saturday, 04, and without an upcoming date, was also cancelled.
In this sense, this Brava native warns of this situation of dependency, calling for an alternative, justifying that Brava has no other means of connection, and therefore has to travel, regardless of the connection with Fogo, if the sea does not allow it, but what you can't do is go without trips for that reason.
“Several appeals have already been made and when the highest representative of the island, being the mayor, puts pressure on improving connections, he is accused by a member of the Government of lack of loyalty”, he pointed out, reinforcing that in this sense an ordinary citizen feels even more fragile.
And it is in this sense that he appeals to the Government's common sense to improve the issue of transport to Brava, so as not to keep hitting the same key every day.
“As mayor of Brava, who is the legitimate representative of the people of Brava, he must have a voice, but everyone was aware of the reaction of a member of the Government”, he reinforced, stressing that for the people of Brava “it was not worthy at all” , bearing in mind that they are experiencing the transport situation on the island firsthand and that the general population feels and knows that Brava “is poorly served”.
As for the commerce sector, he showed that for traders it is “a big headache” to get the goods to arrive on Brava, especially frozen, because there is no compliance with schedules and dates and days of travel change at short notice .
And these unannounced changes, according to this Braveman, cause several constraints, considering this situation as being “regrettable”, but with the hope that the Government can take a serious look at the island, because otherwise, in the area of commerce, many ports they will close.
