CAPE VERDE AIRLINES ANNOUNCES SECOND WEEKLY FLIGHT BOSTON-CABO VERDE

Flights will be made to Praia and Sal

The announcement was made this morning by Executive Director Mário Chaves during a conference in the community room at the consulate which was attended by the press and the general population.

Cabo Verde Airlines (CVA), the flag carrier of the Republic of Cape Verde, will add a second flight between Cape Verde from December 14th.

Flights will take place on Tuesdays from Amílcar Cabral International Airport on Sal Island, at 10 am local time, arriving at Logan International Airport at 2 pm and 10 pm. The return flight will depart Boston at 3:40 pm local time and arrive at Nelson Mandela International Airport in Praia at 3:10 am.
On Saturdays, the aircraft will leave Praia at 3:00 am and arrive in Boston at 7:10 am, local time, and will return to Sal Island, departing from Boston at 8:10 am, and arriving in Sal Island at 7:40 am night.

The connection will be made with a B757-200, with 22 seats in Comfort class and 161 seats in Economy class.

The new strategy was presented this Saturday, November 16, by Mário Chaves, Executive Director and head of Corporate Affairs at CVA, at a press conference held at the Consulate General of Cape Verde, in Boston.

As Boston is the center of the greater Cape Verdean community, the city plays an important role in Cabo Verde Airlines' strategic expansion plan for North America.

The Sal HUB from America

CVA wants to increase its market share for Americans visiting Africa, as well as for the African diaspora in the United States of America.
The strategy will pass through the CVA hub on Sal Island, serving as a hub for other Cape Verdean destinations, as well as West African cities such as Dakar and Lagos, Nigeria. This will be a new connection that will start on December 9 with five flights a week.

The CVA hub also offers flights to Lisbon (five times a week), Milan (four times a week), Paris and Rome (three times a week), as well as Brazilian destinations.
Earlier this year, the company had already announced that it would start flying from Sal to Washington DC in December, three times a week.

Mário Chaves, Deputy CEO and Head of Corporate Affairs today told the press and those present at the conference that: "The second flight to Boston redefines a very important connection that had been reduced through the CVA restructuring process.
We are very excited to bring this connection back to the Cape Verdean diaspora and hope, with this new service, that we can continue to increase tourism in Cape Verde and give Americans the opportunity to learn more about Cape Verde's culture and people. ".

According to a press release, Cabo Verde Airlines is an airline whose new hub operates at the international airport on the island of Sal.

Since November 2009, it has been an active member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The company currently has a management agreement with the Icelandic company Loftleidir.

History

Still according to a press release that we quoted, Cabo Verde Airlines is an airline that starts to bet on a new hub from the international airport of the island of Sal.

Since November 2009, it has been an active member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The company currently has a management agreement with Loftleidir Icelandic.
Cabo Verde Airlines is the national carrier of Cape Verde, with the state of Cape Verde owning 46.35%. Workers own 2.65% and LoftleidirCabo Verde Own 51%.

The airline was created in 1958 as a public company when it absorbed what was then called Aero Club de Cabo Verde.
Until 1984, the company's operations were restricted to the domestic market on (8) of the nine (9) inhabited islands of the archipelago.

In the 1980s, new horizons were opened for the company. The great emigration of Cape Verdeans to Europe, which began in the 1960s, followed by the advent of Cape Verde's independence in 1975, brought market conditions for the start of international operations by TACV.

The first route, Sal -Lisboa -Sal, started in 1985, and since then TACV has gradually expanded into new markets.

Currently, it has a broad and consolidated network that involves national and international operations. The two important factors that influenced the success of these fifty years of the company's life are: the existence of an important diaspora spread over five continents, whose number is greater than the resident population of the country itself and the "discovery" of Cape Verde in the decade 90s as a tourist destination, particularly for Europeans.

As an international operator, Cabo Verde Airlines has regularly implemented the increasingly demanding requirements in the field of aviation security, imposed not only by its own authorities, but also by the European Union and the United States of America.
In February 2009, the company acquired its registration in the internationally recognized IOSA program, the IATA Operational Safety Audit. In May 2018, TACV changed its name to Cabo Verde Airlines.

Current destinations:
•Boston•Dakar•Fortaleza•Lagos•Lisbon•Milan•Paris•Beach•Porto Alegre•Recife•Rome•Salt•Salvador•São Vicente•São Filipe•Washington DC

Hub:
Cabo Verde Airlines has established its hub at Amílcar Cabral Airport, on the island of Sal, from where it flies to Europe, North and South America and West Africa

The meeting ended with a question and answer session in which Mário Chaves confirmed that Cabo Verde Airlines does not interfere with the issue of domestic flights and the current situation.
