Cape Verde and Egypt discuss cooperation in the area of health
Cape Verde's Minister of Health met with Egyptian authorities to discuss cooperation in the area of health. Egypt offered medical training programs, support for ambulance services and development of a memorandum to formalize the partnership.
Egypt's Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, received the Cape Verde Minister of Health and her accompanying delegation at the Ministry's headquarters in the new administrative capital. The meeting aimed to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two countries in the area of health.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar welcomed his counterpart and reiterated Egypt's commitment to supporting Arab and African countries in all fields of health.
Discussions revolved around several topics, including:
- Public health cooperation: Egypt has committed to providing expertise and resources to strengthen Cape Verde's public health system.
- Medical training programs: Egypt will offer medical training programs for Cape Verde health professionals, covering the latest scientific and technological advances in the field of medicine.
- Ambulance services: Egypt will support Cape Verde in developing a robust and well-equipped ambulance system with qualified personnel.
- Memorandum of Understanding: A memorandum of understanding will be drawn up to formalize cooperation between the two countries in the area of health and medical education.
Cape Verde's Minister of Health expressed her gratitude to Egypt for its continued support for her country. She also accepted Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar's invitation to participate in the second edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Development, which will be held in October 2024 under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.
The meeting was attended by several high-level representatives from the Ministries of Health of both countries.
This initiative demonstrates Egypt's commitment to strengthening cooperation ties with African countries and contributing to the development of their health systems.
