Nova Sintra, Mar/10 - Residents of Brava Island, located in the Cape Verde archipelago, have been facing difficulties for many years due to the lack of transport to and from the island. According to reports, the inhabitants of the island have faced problems moving to other regions, which has negatively affected their lives and the local economy.
Brava Island is known for its beautiful natural landscapes, in addition to being an important tourist spot in the country. However, the lack of transport has hindered the arrival of visitors to the region, directly impacting local businesses that depend on tourism.
Andy Andrade, a local businessman, in a rant on one of the social networks, literally said that Cabo Verde Interlilhas, a company that signed a concession agreement with the Government of Cabo Verde, has been destroying everything on Brava Island.
“CVInterilhas put an end to everything on Brava Island; no tourists; no greens; no consultation at the regional fire hospital; immigrants leaving the island a week before international travel; in the end bravenenses crying silent and in despair. ENOUGH my lords; reposition Kriola or Liberdadi on the route as it was for 10 years.”
Residents of Brava Island have reported that the vessels that transport passengers and cargo to the island do not have a fixed schedule and when they book some trips, they are delayed or canceled for any reason.
In response to the complaints, national authorities said they were aware of the situation and were studying measures to resolve the problem. However, there is no indication of when the improvements will be implemented.
The Mayor of Brava said some time ago that he was annoyed by this situation that has been tormenting the population of the island, but he was cowardly insulted by the Minister of the Sea who said that the local leader wants to save “his skin” by passing responsibilities on to others.
Meanwhile, residents and businessmen of Ilha Brava are asking for more attention from the authorities and urgent actions to solve the lack of transport in the region. The situation has generated concern and negative impacts on the life of the community, which hopes for a quick solution to the problem.
