Cape Verde Ranks 7th Among African Countries in AI Readiness
Cape Verde was ranked 7th among African countries in Artificial Intelligence preparedness, according to the IMF's AI Readiness Index.
Around the world, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionized multiple sectors. Innovations such as machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and computer vision have transformed business operations, human-technology interactions, and decision-making processes. This technological wave is not confined to a single region; its influence is global.
Africa, despite facing unique challenges such as infrastructure deficits and varying levels of technological development, is experiencing an increase in AI adoption. However, the pace of AI integration varies significantly across the continent. Some nations are advancing quickly, while others are still in the early stages of development.
A recent International Monetary Fund AI Readiness Index (AIPI) report highlighted the readiness of 174 countries to adopt AI. AIPI evaluates countries based on four key dimensions: digital infrastructure, human capital, technological innovation and legal frameworks. These dimensions are essential for the smooth integration of AI technologies.
Despite recent efforts to integrate the technology, Africa remains the region least prepared for the AI revolution. Seychelles, Mauritius and South Africa occupy the highest positions, with an index of 0.5.
