Praia, Cape Verde - Cape Verdean President José Maria Neves on Friday presided over the swearing-in ceremony of four new ministers, following their appointments earlier this week as part of a government reshuffle.

Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva explained that the changes are aimed at boosting economic growth and creating jobs.

Eurico Monteiro, Cape Verde's former ambassador to Lisbon, will take over the Investment Promotion and Business Development portfolio, and will be responsible for monitoring the private sector, investments and professional qualifications. In addition, he will lead the Ministry of State Modernization to strengthen digital transformation and improve the business environment.

Other appointments include José Sá Nogueira as Minister of Tourism and Transport, Jorge Figueiredo at the Ministry of Health and Victor Coutinho at the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Spatial Planning and Housing.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister, Olavo Correia, will accumulate the position of Minister of Finance, Alcindo Mota will continue as Secretary of State for Finance, and Filomeno Monteiro will take over the Ministry of Communities.

With this reform, the government aims to boost the economy and improve administrative efficiency, reinforcing strategic sectors for the country's development.
