According to the Port Traffic Statistical Bulletin 2024, published by ENAPOR - Empresa Nacional de Administração dos Portos (National Port Administration Company), Cape Verde's ports recorded solid growth on several fronts last year.

The total number of ship calls reached 8,164, representing an increase of 3.6% compared to 2023. Passenger traffic rose by 8.3%, totaling 1,602,805 passengers. Also noteworthy was the movement of goods, which grew by 11.98%, with 2,986,573 tons transported. Container handling (TEU) increased by 6.5%, reaching 91,178 TEUs.

The report also highlights the sharp growth in the number of cruise ship calls (+46.2%) and cruise passengers (+27.2%), showing the resumption and expansion of maritime tourism in the archipelago.

Porto Grande (Mindelo) and Porto da Palmeira (Sal) stood out in terms of the volume of cargo and containers. Porto Grande, for example, saw growth of 23.09% in the volume of goods, while Palmeira saw containers rise by 25.4%.

These results reinforce the strategic importance of national ports in trade, tourism and inter-island connectivity, reflecting ENAPOR's investments in technological innovation and improved port services.
