And that President Trump's regime has created restrictions for a number of countries, including Cape Verde. There are 22 nations on this list, released in the last few hours.

The US is evaluating the imposition of restrictions on the entry of citizens from several countries, including Cape Verde, due to failures in the issuance of documents, border control and information sharing. The archipelago is part of a list of 22 nations under yellow alert and has 60 days to correct these issues, according to the New York Times.

If the requirements are not met, the US is considering imposing restrictions on entry.

If the requirements are not met, Cape Verdeans could face "severe limitations" or even a "total ban" on entering the US.

The final decision could be announced as of March 21.

The measure is part of President Donald Trump's broader policy to restrict immigration, which includes stepping up the deportation of undocumented immigrants and suspending the reception of refugees.

As a result, the U.S. could face "strong limitations" or a "total ban" on entry.

Among the Portuguese-speaking countries, in addition to Cape Verde, Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe are also on the yellow list, plus Equatorial Guinea, also a member of the CPLP, they are included in a list of nations that will be given the chance to correct any flaws to avoid restricting the entry of their citizens to the US.

The other countries targeted by this yellow alert are Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Chad, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Dominica, Gambia, Liberia, Malawi, Mauritania, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Vanuatu and Zimbabwe.

The preliminary document designates two other groups of nations whose citizens could come under heavy restriction or outright ban from entering the US.

On the red list of total exclusion are Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen.

On the orange list of severe visa restrictions, but not total exclusion, are Belarus, Eritrea, Haiti, Laos, Burma, Pakistan, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Sudan and Turkmenistan.
