In statements to Inforpress, the leader of the Friends of Cova Rodela group stressed that so far preparations are going smoothly and the theme chosen is recycling, since the aim is to to alert society to the need to reuse waste instead of discarding it.
"Our group was not prepared to be one of the official groups, as we were thinking of parading as a surprise group, but with the help and support of neighbors and friends we decided to officially participate," he said.
The person in charge also said that the group intends to go to the parade with two floats and that at the moment the costumes are a little late, but assured that they will do their best so that everything is ready on the 4th.
"This is the first time our group is going to parade, but there used to be a group from this town that took part in the King Momo festivities. Our aim is to have fun, but winning would be great. But if we don't win, we'll be satisfied too," he said.
For her part, the head of the Riba D'Ora Carnival group, Mariza Silva, also assured that almost everything is ready for the "big day" and said that its theme is "Roots of Africa", in order to highlight the identity of the local population.
With regard to the costumes, he assured that almost everything was ready, however, he said that the float was a little late, but nothing that would jeopardize the group's parade.
"The group has 86 extras, including children and adults, and our aim is to take part in order to win, bearing in mind that this is our third time taking part and we want to have fun and win too, if that's possible," he concluded.
The traditional parade will take place on Tuesday, March 4, at 16:00, and in addition to the official parade, Carnaval da Brava involves surprise groups that will liven up the streets of the town of Nova Sintra.
