Challenges are to be faced and overcome: Car Connection for Fajã restored.

The process of cleaning and reopening the sections was led by ECV (Estradas de Cabo Verde) and had the crucial support of the civil construction company ELEVO. ECV members and ELEVO staff came together to face this challenge and give the community back a much-needed connection to Fajã.

Rain damage along the road included landslides, erosion and infrastructure damage that made the road dangerous and nearly impassable for most vehicles. However, local leadership was determined to completely restore the road and ensure that all residents and visitors could access Fajã safely.

Cleaning and repair work is in full swing, with a team of ELEVO workers and professionals working tirelessly to restore the road. The repairs are expected to be completed by next week, which will allow normal traffic for all vehicles, as currently only tall vehicles have been able to travel on the road.

The Mayor of the City Council, Francisco Tavares, expressed his gratitude to ECV and ELEVO for their invaluable support at this challenging time. He said: "The challenges are to be faced and overcome. We are determined to reclaim our road and ensure that Fajã remains a place of beauty and accessibility for all."

This demonstration of unity and solidarity highlights the resilient spirit of the Faja D'Agua community. As restoration work progresses, the hope is that the road will become even more resistant to future weather, ensuring safe and continuous access to this beautiful stretch of Brava.
