Municipality Day/Brava: Sports, cultural activities and inaugurations mark the festivities

Inaugurations and various sporting and cultural activities will mark the Day of the Municipality of Brava and the feast of São João Baptista, celebrations that began on the 14th of June.

This information was provided today to Inforpress by the mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, stressing that it is always necessary to separate the two parties, celebrated on the 24th of June.

The mayor announced that on the part of the city council, around 3500 contos were mobilized, recalling that all activities are carried out in partnership with other institutions and private individuals.

Within what is the feast of the patron saint, he stressed that cultural and traditional activities are scheduled that are repetitive throughout the years, namely the day before "pilon", on the 22nd, on the 23rd, the eve mass and gifts to people who join the activities with coladeiras, followed by some delicacies.

On the 24th, early in the morning, the procession to the mast will take place, where the gifts will be taken to decorate the mast, then the solemn mass, traditional lunch and at the end of the day the boat to the mast and the passing of the flag to the next party planner. year.

The same source informed that this year the party planner is Anildo Vaz, in partnership with the municipal council, which every year supports with around 500 thousand escudos towards the costs of the flag's activities.

For the Municipality Day, he underlined that sports activities have already started since the 14th of June, and will continue until the next 21st.

These activities include tournaments of various modalities, from table games, parlor, 11-a-side football that includes teams from Brave and one from Fogo Island, athletics, swimming, among others.

On the agenda, he highlighted that there are also activities of a social nature in partnership with other institutions, starting with the health fair promoted by the Health Department, an agricultural fair on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd, in partnership with the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

Delivery of some equipment to the Brava Health Department, which will be carried out by Moave, cultural activities, lectures, various inaugurations, delivery of bathrooms, Miss Brava, two nights of music festival, 23rd and 24th with national and local artists, are part of the published program.

To finalize the programme, on the 25th, a series of activities are scheduled to commemorate Emigrant Day.
