The mayor of Brava recognized today that the sanitation situation of families could be better, if it weren't for the problem of lack of water.
Francisco Tavares made this recognition in statements to the press, after carrying out a range of activities and inaugurations, within the framework of activities alluding to the Day of the Municipality, celebrated on the 24th of June.
"The situation of families in terms of sanitation at the moment is good", said the mayor, acknowledging, however, that it could be much better if there was more water available in the houses.
As he highlighted, in Brava there is the paradox of having more than 95 percent (%) of the houses connected to the water supply network, and, however, having only 50% of the water needed to supply the families.
But, he informed that the water desalination project will quadruple the amount of water available on the island, and will be ready in June 2024, in order to have this issue resolved.
In the area of sanitation and support for low-income families, the city council team delivered three bathrooms, and there are still three more to be delivered, in a project by the municipality itself, with the aim of providing all families with a bathroom and bring a little dignity to low-income families.
According to the mayor, the goal is being achieved little by little.
Another aspect in the area of sanitation that the municipality has been working on is the collection of garbage, showing that they had the support of the Government in the acquisition of containers, a compactor truck and another open truck, in a work that is being done so that Brava maintains always clean.
He took the opportunity to talk about the benefits that the reservoir now delivered to the population of Cachaço will bring to the residents, justifying that this location is the one with the largest number of breeders and cattle on the island, but it is a very dry area and with water supply problems. very significant water.
With this situation, he stressed that the animals and their breeders have been going through hardships and there was a need to reinforce the existing water reservoir with a capacity of 400 cubic meters.
With this additional funding from the MAA, a reservoir of over 300 cubic meters, the mayor pointed out that it will make it possible to have a much larger stock of rainwater and thus have enough water for the animals throughout the year and solve one more of the structural problems of this community.
Another aspect that deserved his attention was the donation of equipment to the Brava Health Police Station made by Moave, stressing that it is very important equipment and the police station needed it.
It also showed that the autarchy and even the police station have been working to mobilize more partnerships of this type, but that at this moment, the autarchy and the entire population are waiting for the launch of the tender and the foundation stone for the start of works for the construction of a new health center, with the valences that were presented in
Last October, which will enter a new phase for health care on the island after the completion of these works.
