CMB starts rebuilding walls on roads damaged by rain with government support
Moises Santiago Nova Sintra, November 22, 2023 (Bravanews) - The Brava City Council (CMB) announced today the beginning of the reconstruction of the walls adjacent to roads affected by the heavy rains that occurred last September.
According to President Francisco Tavares, thanks to Government funding, through the declaration of the State of Calamity, the CMB obtained 10 thousand contos of the almost 15 thousand contos of the total budget intended to cover cleaning and reconstruction expenses.
The financial contribution will not only allow the restoration of the walls, but also the revitalization of paving, support for local fishermen and assistance to families whose homes were affected by the weather. CMB plans to mobilize its own resources and collaborate with partners to gradually complete all necessary work.
Photos released show the current situation in Achada Candinha (Our Lady of Monte) and Ribeira "Nha Tana" (Nova Sintra), highlighting the magnitude of the damage. Intervention is planned in other locations affected by the rains.
The President of CMB expressed gratitude for the support from the Government of Cape Verde, highlighting that this partnership is crucial to effectively respond to the needs of the community. He assured that the reconstruction will be carried out in a transparent and efficient manner, with the aim of returning safe places and resilient infrastructure to the population.
The community is being encouraged to monitor the progress of the works and report any emerging issues to ensure a comprehensive and sustainable rebuild. The collaboration between CMB and the Government of Cape Verde is seen as an example of prompt response to natural disasters and an ongoing commitment to the well-being of citizens.
