Conclusive studies demonstrate that it is not feasible to build an airport on Brava Island

This statement is made by the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva when questioned by journalists, admitting that “there are conclusive studies that demonstrate that there is no possibility” of building an airport on the island of Brava, namely to guarantee medical evacuations, but that the country wants to look for alternative solutions, particularly in maritime transport, ensuring that the same is available every day.

“We will have to look for other alternative solutions, particularly dedicated lines for maritime transport, which is what will happen in Fogo-Brava, it will be available every day and this circuit will be made every day. Private investments that are planned for the island of Brava and, possibly later on, we will see in terms of Civil Protection and Civil Emergency, we are working particularly at the level of the Coast Guard, the possibility of having helicopters that can act in emergency situations," he said.

This observation was made during the statement to the country made today, 22, by the Prime Minister, about the two years of his governance.

The island of Brava, considered the most isolated of the Cape Verdean islands, last November had permanent Coast Guard naval assets and will receive a health center with hospital facilities.
