I have been guided by not commenting on declarations by rulers, political leaders, mayors, deputies or civil servants. It is up to the President to understand the contexts and calm the mood, even when there are excesses.

Our democracy is young, 32 years old. It is natural that the political debate between us is still heated, polarized and shallow, with unjustified levels of violence and disrespect. This shows the immensity of the challenges that lie ahead.

In the face of harsher statements, serenity and political pedagogy are expected from the President of the Republic, as there is a long way to go in the field of civic and citizen education.

In order to have an environment that is increasingly peaceful and suitable for the exercise of politics and the different public functions and to find the necessary balances - we still expect many excesses -, I repeat, serenity, a lot of patience and, above all, a very strong pedagogical spirit are needed.

Politics is an apprenticeship. Faced with concrete situations, we learn how the different actors behave. The attitude of the highest Magistrate of the Nation must be one of dialogue and cooperation, understanding and accepting even some excesses, to guarantee a greater good, which is institutional stability, and the formation of public policies for the solution of the enormous problems of the country.
