Council of Ministers approves extension of guarantees to TACV bank financing
The Council of Ministers approved this Thursday the resolution that authorizes the General Directorate of the Treasury to grant an extension of the bank financing guarantees that Transportes Aéreos Cabo Verde (TACV) contracted with Caixa Económica.

In a press conference today, the minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers explained that with this resolution the executive is extending the period of validity of existing guarantees, whose end was scheduled for this month of February and will be extended for another year.
“Therefore, it is not about new guarantees, but simply the extension of what already exists and which have already been published in the Official Bulletin”, he stressed, stressing that it fits within the stabilization and recovery plan of TACV that is being implemented both in terms of personnel restructuring and in terms of operational reorganization.
“Like what happened last year, this year it is necessary to follow up and continue this stabilization plan and the acquisition by leasing of a second aircraft is planned. So there is this extension of these guarantees exactly to allow TACV to honor its commitments with Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde”, he maintained.
Desalination plant for Boa Vista
During the ministerial meeting, the Government approved the financing agreement between Cape Verde and Austria's Unicredit Bank for the water desensitization project on the island of Boa Vista.
According to Janine Lélis, with the acquisition of this desalination plant with a daily production capacity of five thousand meters and the executive's intention to overcome the challenge of providing drinking water to the island of Boa Vista in a perspective that it is more permanent at a lower cost.
The project is budgeted at 11 million euros and the prospect is that the desalination plant will be operating by the end of this year and supplying water to the population of Boa Vista.
The Council of Ministers also approved the diploma that regulates the constitution of virtual and digital banks in Cape Verde, attributing to the Banco de Cabo Verde (BCV) the competence of regulation and supervision.
It also amended the rules in force regarding the .CV domain, maximizing the domain's potential, within the scope of the development of the digital economy and the promotion of Cape Verde at an international level.
