The Minister of Health, Arlindo do Rosário, met today with some entities on the island of Brava to outline measures to prevent and manage the cases of covid-19 that may possibly arise on the island.
Speaking to the press, the official said that "fortunately" Brava Island is the only one in the country that still does not have any registered cases, but made it clear that "more or less days will arrive".
From there, he explained that his visit to the island of Brava is part of what was the visit to the island of Fogo, because, as he highlighted, all the measures to be considered must be carried out at the level of the Fogo e Brava Health Region.
According to the same source, he had “fruitful meetings” on the island of Fogo and Brava, accompanied by the Civil Protection representative, met with the mayor and then with local health professionals and leaders, where they considered various aspects.
Of these aspects, he pointed out human resources, the issue of tests, isolation spaces and the entire flow of management of cases that eventually appear on the island.
Of the points listed, the minister underlined that they carried out an in-depth analysis of each one, not thinking about the island itself, but the Region as a whole, because, as he reinforced, there is an interconnection between the health structures of Brava and Fogo that belong to all the same sanitary region.
Regarding the installation of the laboratory on the island of Fogo, he added that the equipment was already in the country and during his stay on that island they surveyed the conditions of the Health Centre, where some repairs will be made to the electrical installation and he says he believes that “soon” will have all the conditions met for the installation of the equipment.
The official arrived today at Brava Island aboard the Coast Guard ship and, in addition to the meetings, he has on his agenda a visit to some health facilities on the island.
